Letter from the President

Thank you for helping us to celebrate 25 years at Weidemann Associates, Inc.

What started twenty five years ago with two people at a dining room table and a lot of determination has become a company of 24 full time employees with projects in diverse fields spanning the globe.  The journey has been long, but through it all Weidemann Associates has maintained a level of professionalism, integrity and quality while striving to live up to our mission of Partnership, Stewardship and Service.

Weidemann Associates has broadened its scope and today works on projects in microenterprise development, economic development, knowledge management and agriculture/agribusiness/rural development. Our firm has worked on projects worldwide from Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe and the NIS to Africa, Asia and the Near East. Weidemann Associates is experienced in over 80 countries working with international donor organizations, as well as private businesses, state and local governments, and non-governmental and community development organizations.

Looking toward the future, Weidemann Associates will continue as a small business.  For the past 25 years Weidemann has defied the odds by purposefully staying a specialized small business, while other small businesses have gone under or have looked to expand past the small business threshold.  By pursuing this business model, Weidemann Associates has maintained its intimate business culture and outlook while focusing on targeted fields, and this has allowed the company to develop specialized skill sets normally only found in much larger organizations.

The company continues to focus on working with disadvantaged beneficiaries including those with lower incomes, rural residents, women and small businesses, while deepening its core expertise in traditional subject areas such as business growth, business finance, agriculture, agribusiness, grants management and monitoring and evaluation. Recent changes in the competitive environment have made Weidemann Associates an attractive partner to other organizations seeking our specialized skill sets and proven track record of providing quality services and meeting subcontracting requirements.

Our firm has recently increased the scale of operations by competing for and winning a long-term field implementation project in Turkmenistan.  Although short-term IQC-type work is useful for providing operating revenue, Weidemann Associates believes long-term projects provide more opportunities to develop its growing staff and improve their capabilities and career potential.  Emboldened by the early success and praise that this project has garnered, Weidemann is now actively pursuing other long-term projects and predicts that by 2015 half of our work will consist of long-term implementation activities.

Weidemann Associates is proud of the work we have done and the lives that we have touched.  We thank you for joining us for this special occasion. We look forward to continuing to work with established partners and to expand our relationships with new partners in the future.

Best wishes,

Wes Weidemann
