USAID Agricultural Education and Training
Short Film Competition
Weidemann Associates is accepting entries to its 1st Short Film Competition under the Agricultural Knowledge and Program Support Task Order Work Assignment #03 Agricultural Education and Training. All entries must be submitted or delivered to the Weidemann Associates YouTube page or on a USB or CD to the Weidemann Associates office by 5PM EST March 9, 2012.

The competition asks entrants to create a video or animated short film about one of following categories with a clear demonstration of how agricultural education and training are important to increasing the availability, access, and utilization of food in developing countries and to improve rural livelihoods:
- Agricultural education and training is…
- Agricultural education and training and rural communities
- Agricultural education and training and youth
- Agricultural education and training and the environment
- Agricultural education and training and health and nutrition
There will be one winner for each category although all entries have the opportunity to be featured in future United States Agency for International Development (USAID) training materials. Category winners will be featured on the Weidemann Associates, Inc. website and will receive a $50 cash prize.
Closing Date
The competition closes at 5PM (EST) on March 9, 2012.
Rules and Regulations
- 1. ELIGIBILITY: The USAID Agricultural Education and Training Short Film Competition is open to all individuals 18 years or older. If a submission is made by a team at least one team member must be aged 18 years or older. Weidemann Associates, Inc. employees and their family members are ineligible to enter.
- 2. PROJECT ORGANIZER: Weidemann Associates, Inc. under the RAISE Plus Set Aside Agricultural Knowledge and Program Support Task Order Work Assignment #03 Agricultural Education and Training (TO-OAA-10-000017)
- 3. AGREEMENT TO OFFICIAL RULES: Participation in the Competition constitutes each Entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and decisions of the Project Organizer which are final and binding in all requests
4. COMPETITION PERIOD: The Competition begins on Monday, February 20, 2012 and ends on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 5PM EST. Each entry must be received on YouTube (www.youtube.com/user/WeidemannAssociates) or on a USB or CD electronic format (Attn: AET Short Film Competition 4141 N Henderson Rd. Plaza Level Suite 5 Arlington, VA 22203) by the Project Organizer during this period to be eligible for a prize.
- 5. ENTRY: Individuals may enter as both individuals or as members of teams. There is no limit on the number of entries. Video and animated short
- films must be 2 minutes in length or shorter.
- 6. OWNERSHIP: All entries will become the property of USAID upon receipt by the Project Organizer. Submission of any entry constitutes anentrant’s
- entrant’s consent to assign and transfer irrevocably to USAID any and all rights, title and interest in the entry, without limitation, including all copyrights and grants to USAID and its affiliates an irrevocable right to print, reproduce, publish, use, edit, adapt, display, broadcast and/or modify the entry in any way, in any and all media now know or hereinafter developed without compensation to the entrant.

USE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION: Personal information submitted while participating in the Competition will be used primarily to contact selected finalists and potential winners but entrants grant to the Project Organizer an irrevocable right to use such information as inclusions in newsworthy items for the purpose of advertising and promotion of the Competition without any or additional compensation or review

- 8. JUDGING: The Competition is a contest of skill. Entries judged to be the most creative and original in each category will be deemed to be the winning entry. Judging will take place on or about Monday, March 12, 2012. The winners will be announced on the Weidemann Associates, Inc. website and YouTube channel on Friday, March 16, 2012.
- 9. PRIZES: There will be one cash prize awarded for each category whether the winning entry was developed by one individual or a team. The cash prize for each category will total $50.00.

Please find below the Request for Applications (RFA) to implement the Farmer-to-Farmer Niche Projects 1071-20-505.
Decisions regarding the attached RFA will be made based on the selection criteria included in Section VII. Funds will be issued as a Small
Grant award under the Raise Plus Set Aside IQC contract Task Order #20 Farmer-to-Farmer Special Program Support Project with the
Weidemann Consortium and will be limited to a total cost of $100,000 over a period of no more than one year.

Dr. Wesley Weidemann, President of Weidemann Associates, and field team members Murad Nobatov and Akmyrat Yazhanov were invited to the Independence Day Celebration at the U.S. Ambassador's Residence last night in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Ambassador Robert Patterson personally congratulated Dr. Weidemann and the team for WAI's success and ongoing work in the Agriculture Technology Project.
Launched in September 2010, ATP is a USAID-funded, 4-year economic growth program which seeks to increase rural farmers' household income and enhance the competitiveness of the dairy and greenhouse horticulture value chains by improving genetics, education and organizations for private livestock producers and introducing successful agribusiness practices.
