Agriculture Knowledge and Program Support

The Agriculture Knowledge and Program Support (AKPS) is a multi-year Task Order under the Raise Plus IQC. Its purpose is to assist USAID Washington’s Economic Growth, Agriculture and Technology (EGAT) Bureau and the new Bureau for Food Security to develop strategies for and support implementation of more effective, efficient and sustainable agricultural and rural sector development programs at the community, country, regional and global level.

The project involves the provision of technical services for studies, sub-sector strategy development, agricultural sector and rural development problem and opportunities analysis, program planning and evaluation, provision of training services and dissemination of information on sector strategies and good practice. Weidemann has already completed four work assignments under this Task Order. We are currently working on a wide range of global research and analyses that are contributing valuable data and insights to the evolution of USAID’s agricultural development strategies. Current activities include Agribusiness and Value Chain Assessment, a historical assessment of Agricultural Education and Training that is providing the basis for future strategies in that area. A Weidemann team is preparing a 50 year retrospective of AID’s Legacy in Agricultural Development identifying USAID’s the major achievements and leadership in that field. Another work assignment is to execute assessment and design for a targeted Feed The Future country strategy for the Bangladesh Agricultural Transformation Strategy Program. As more work assignments continue to flow in, Weidemann continues to add to the body of knowledge and learning process of USAID in the very important areas agricultural development and food security.
